CHANGING THE PALOUSE THROUGH VOLUNTEERISM

Welcome to the Addium-METER Foundation Volunteer Request Program—a cornerstone of our commitment to community engagement and support. Through this program, we aim to connect the passion and expertise of Addium, Inc. and METER Group, Inc.  employees with non-profit organizations working on the front lines to make a positive impact in our communities.

FAQ

1. Who Can Make A make Volunteer Request?

We invite organizations with 1) Non-Profit Status and 2) who serve the local community to make a volunteer request.

NOTE:
Non-Profit Status:
The organization must be a registered non-profit entity. Proof of non-profit status, such as a 501(c)(3) designation in the United States, will be required as part of the application process. This ensures that our volunteer efforts serve charitable, educational, or community-focused missions.

Local Community: Whitman Co. (Washington) and/or Latah County (Idaho)

  • Access Skilled Volunteers: Tap into a pool of enthusiastic, skilled professionals ready to contribute their time and expertise to your cause.
  • Amplify Your Impact: With the support of corporate volunteers, you can expand your reach, enhance your services, and achieve greater outcomes.
  • Build Community Connections: Forge valuable partnerships with local businesses and professionals, opening doors to new opportunities and resources.

  • Make a Difference: Use your skills, knowledge, and energy to contribute to meaningful projects that have a real impact on the lives of others.
  • Grow Personally & Professionally: Volunteering offers a unique opportunity for personal growth, skill development, and enhanced understanding of community issues.
  • Connect with Your Community: Engage directly with local causes, meet new people, and strengthen your ties to the community.
  • Give Back with your Employers Full Support: Use your "charitable leave hours" to volunteer, and still be paid, as through you were working at the office, even during business hours.

For Employees

  • Community Focus: We prioritize projects that have a clear community benefit. Whether it's enhancing local education, addressing health disparities, supporting environmental sustainability, or aiding underserved populations, the goal of the project should align with our mission to improve quality of life and promote equality.
  • Opportunities for Engagement: The request should outline specific roles and tasks for volunteers, highlighting how they can contribute meaningfully to the project. Additionally, we look for opportunities that allow our Addium and METER employees to use their skills and expertise, whether through hands-on activities or technical assistance.
  • Inclusivity and Diversity: Projects that serve diverse communities or aim to address issues of inequality and access are particularly encouraged. We believe in the power of our volunteer efforts to promote inclusivity and support for historically disadvantaged groups.
  • Operational Capacity: The organization must have the capacity to host volunteers, including adequate supervision and resources to ensure a safe, productive, and meaningful volunteer experience. A clear plan for volunteer involvement and project execution should be presented.

We look for corporate volunteer opportunities that meet some or most of the following criteria:

  • Group-Focused Initiatives: We highly value volunteer projects that can accommodate larger groups of volunteers, ideally more than 5 people. This approach allows us to maximize our impact on the community while providing a platform for our employees to engage in teamwork outside the office environment.
  • Duration of Engagement: Optimal volunteer projects are those that require a commitment of 1-2 hours. This time frame is ideal for encouraging participation without imposing on our employees' personal time or their returning to a huge work load to catch up on. It also allows for meaningful contribution to the projects while ensuring the experience is manageable and rewarding for all involved. **If you have a large project that will take more time, consider proposing multiple shifts in your volunteer request to make it easier to accommodate.
The Addium-METER Foundation serves as a bridge, connecting impactful community projects with the generous volunteer spirit of employees from our corporate partners, Addium and METER.

Both Addium and METER are deeply committed to contributing to the communities where their employees live and work. To support this commitment, they offer "volunteer hours" — allowing their teams to engage in community service during company time while continuing to receive their regular compensation.

The Foundation takes on the crucial role of streamlining this process. We carefully review volunteer requests to ensure they align with our mission and the interests of potential volunteers. Upon approval, we actively promote these opportunities within Addium and METER, encouraging employees to participate and contribute their time and skills to meaningful causes.

Our goal is to simplify the process of volunteering, making it more accessible for individuals who wish to give back to their communities. By doing so, we not only help fulfill the philanthropic vision of Addium and METER but also foster a culture of service and collaboration among their workforce, supporting initiatives that have a positive impact on our local communities.

It's important to note that while we are committed to facilitating volunteer opportunities, we cannot guarantee a specific number of volunteers for any given project. Our role is to inform and encourage our employees to participate, helping to match nonprofit needs with available corporate volunteers.

Ideally, we ask them to sign up with your organization directly, however you explained in your Volunteer Request. (Email, Website, Phone, etc.) That way you can easily access them and send reminders as needed.

Yes! Our corporate volunteers from Addium and METER possess a broad range of skills, including scientific, technical, communication, and physical capabilities. Please specify any special or technical skills your project requires when submitting your volunteer request. We aim to match your needs with volunteers who have the expertise to significantly contribute to your initiative, ensuring a meaningful and impactful collaboration.

Requests for volunteer assistance during business hours tend to see higher participation rates, as employees can utilize their charitable leave hours. Although we considering evening or weekend opportunities, please keep in mind that these times may see lower availability due to personal commitments.

Our volunteer coordination team on the Addium-METER Foundation includes representatives from Human Resources and the Executive Board of Addium and METER. Their insights into the companies' schedules and busy periods allow us to more effectively plan and propose volunteer opportunities that align with our employees' availability.
